SAREE CARE GUIDE
Preserve the beauty of your handloom treasures
Silk Sarees
First 3 Washes
Always dry clean your silk saree for the first 3 washes to preserve the fabric sheen and colour vibrancy.
After 3 Washes
Gentle hand wash is safe. Use cold water and a mild liquid detergent (avoid powder detergent).
Never Wring
Do not wring or twist. Gently press out water and lay flat or hang on a padded hanger.
Drying
Always dry in shade. Direct sunlight can fade colours and weaken silk fibres.
Cotton Sarees
Washing
Hand wash with mild soap in cold water. Machine wash on gentle cycle is okay for everyday cotton sarees.
Pre-Soak
Soak for 15 minutes in cold water before washing, especially for the first wash to remove starch.
Drying
Dry in shade to prevent colour fading. Avoid tumble drying.
Ironing
Iron on medium heat while slightly damp for the crispest finish.
Storage Tips
Wrap in Cotton or Muslin
Always wrap sarees in soft cotton or muslin cloth. This allows the fabric to breathe and prevents moisture build-up.
Use Naphthalene Balls
Place naphthalene balls or neem leaves in your wardrobe to protect against moths and silverfish.
Refold Every Few Months
Refold sarees along different lines every 2-3 months to prevent permanent crease marks on the fabric.
Avoid Plastic Bags
Never store sarees in plastic covers. Plastic traps moisture and can cause yellowing and fungal damage.
Cool, Dry Place
Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area. Avoid damp wardrobes or direct exposure to sunlight.

Stain Removal Tips
Turmeric
Apply lemon juice on the stain and dry in direct sunlight. Wash normally after the stain fades.
Oil / Grease
Sprinkle talcum powder or cornstarch immediately. Let it absorb for 30 minutes, then brush off and wash.
Sweat Marks
Soak in a mixture of cold water and white vinegar (1:1) for 20 minutes before washing.
Ink
Dab with rubbing alcohol or hand sanitiser on a cotton ball. Blot gently — never rub.
Paan / Betel
Rub with a mix of glycerine and water, let sit for 15 minutes, then rinse with cold water.
Pro Tip
When in doubt, always opt for dry cleaning. A good dry cleaner experienced with handloom fabrics is an investment in the longevity of your saree collection.
